The purpose of Grace Life Church of the Shoals is to glorify God by obediently making and equipping disciples of Christ, (establishing local churches) both in the Shoals and throughout the world by the power of the Spirit.
Pastor Jeff Noblit had a vision for a ministry aimed at planting and strengthening Glory of God focused, Christ-honoring, Bible-saturated churches. Anchored In Truth was birthed in 1991 and remains today a ministry in the church, by the church, and for the church. While the ministry has grown beyond one church, and we invite others to help support the ministry, it is our belief that it must remain vitally connected and accountable to a local church. Anchored In Truth is the missions arm of Grace Life Church of the Shoals, Muscle Shoals, Alabama.
Anchored In Truth strives to be a biblically PERSONALIZED and STRATEGIC World Missions Ministry.
Personalized: Personally connecting local church members to the pastors and churches that they support.
Strategic: Submitting to biblical priorities and principles in missions, preaching the Gospel (the Word), planting new churches, revitalizing existing churches, and taking the Gospel to the unreached.
A growing number of congregations that are striving to build true churches for the glory of God are connecting with Anchored In Truth to become the missions arm for their local church.
PTI accords with the six basic principles of Anchored in Truth, namely, that it will be: God-Glorifying, Christ-Centered, Biblically Strategic, Focused on Spirit-Filled Preaching, Personalized Involvement, and always Local Church-Centered (1 Peter 5:12).
Vince Lombardi rightly said, “Practice does not make perfect. Only perfect practice makes perfect.” The practices taught in the Institute have proven effective in the crucible of the local church throughout decades at Grace Life Church of the Shoals (Joshua 1:7-8).
The faculty at PTI are experienced pastors who have served faithfully in the local church and, in some cases, in the highest levels of academia. Nonetheless, all faculty members understand that their job is not merely to entrust their personal ministry experiences to faithful men but to set forth God’s Word and to share such experiences that harmonize with the principles of the Word of God (2 Timothy 2:1).
The training takes place in a local church setting where the principles taught are modeled by the leaders and members of the church. We believe that learning is as much caught as taught.
Wise Solomon wrote in Ecclesiastes 12:11-12, 11 The words of wise men are like goads, and masters of these collections are like well-driven nails; they are given by one Shepherd. 12 But beyond this, my son, be warned: the writing of many books is endless, and excessive devotion to books is wearying to the body. While there is an endless array of subjects to study, the PTI curriculum is laser focused. The courses offered in the curriculum include what is most necessary for effective local church ministry.
The Philemon Fellowship is a fellowship of godly men who serve in the workplace and who are committed to seeing God glorified throughout the world through the establishment and flourishing of biblical local churches. Chad Epperson (owner and CEO of United Treating & Distribution) is the Vice President of the Philemon Fellowship, and he is passionate about business as ministry and building great businesses for the Greater Purpose.
The Philemon Fellowship seeks to fulfill this twofold purpose by developing in local churches an encouraging and mentoring fellowship that fulfills the following objectives:
